Did We Happy On What We Do ?

A lot of employees complain of their company bureaucratic organization requirements. Many also felt as a 'victim' that they are a "junior" staff. Most are not willing to go home at night, go works on weekends, and did not find any "benefit" or the positive side of participating in an events aimed to increased motivation and put a labeling such activity as a burdensome. A more serious attempt to parse the gap of her or his personal life with career ambitions, so at some point he/s have to "choose" between a career or personal life.

Several time ago I had a discussion with a CEO who also serves as an owners, his message that I perceive is he wants all his employees to be serious, focus on work, not play games, and most importantly not 'fooling around' and smiling everywhere. At once i arises myself the question: "Should work must be that hard?". The whole effort of work we do is because we want to be happy, right? Are we not a human beings need to be 'happy' from what we do therefore our customers feel truly served wholeheartedly and shared our happiness? When the situation arises then it serve to a 'turnover' which provide productivity in terms of both quality and volume.

Channeling Happiness in Strategic Manner
A professor of marketing, Jennifer Aaker, is convinced that efforts to pursue 'happiness' in the company will produce outstanding productivity. He conducted the experiment, by asking employees at one company, making photos, situations that make them most happy in the office, and make the 'rating' by numbers 1 to 10. The results of this small study illustrates how people in the office was able to find happiness from the things in their daily task of work. Many people expressed levels of 'happiness' that appears when successfully completing a difficult task as a complete satisfaction is equivalent to running a marathon or a feeling of relief after the final exam. This study also illustrates that many employees may find the experiences of 'meaning' in the same job when they are enjoying it with some 'Entertainment', for example when getting a new job task, helping a friend to complete their task, or to bring family members into office. It was also found in this study that almost all employees 'excited' to find a happy moment, that moment rise because of the social media such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as their need to show pictures of their activities on these sites.

By realizing this happiness has become a commodity. When we usually see 'happiness' as a state which is the output of the situation, attitude, and atmosphere of a particular organization. Then it is time we make happiness not merely as a feature, but even as a business model that characterizes the various processes in the work situation. This is what is believed and applied by Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos. He was well aware that costumers must be served by happy people. Only people who is 'happy' can sit longer with the customers and trying to understand their needs. "Customer service is about making customers happy, company culture is about making employees happy, so let's just simplify it and at the same time, amplify our vision for our customers, employees, vendors, and peers." So Tony Hsieh disseminate positive psychology to all stakeholders that involve with it. With a focus on 'happiness' in the corporate culture and the efforts' of his customer service', Zappos does not have to bother to make the customers are in the midst of customer service it self. This approach is really a 'beyond' money.

Happiness is a serious things
Although happiness is always an element of 'pleasure', forming a colored corporate culture of 'happiness' is not easy. We can not take it easy and automatically get this situation. We need to work hard to seek this status. Martin Seligman expert of "positive psychology :" It is not an easy task, but it is easily the most Important That one we have in our lives. After all, what is the point of living if we are not happy? "Employees need to perceive that the controls of regulation of happiness its in their self, and its not determined by the employer or the company. He also needs to feel the progress of the company's performance to keep his spirits up. Togetherness and attachment to peers is also important, as well as the need of explanation of "meaning and value" in their works.

We can see that the system model of "carrot and stick" was lame. Now days employees will be 'happy' when his/her work associated with the more 'big' issues that the world need to tackle such as environmental conservation, teaching, situations involving more passion to help other towards the global world. Al Gore inspired the world about climate change with his Non profit jobs. Employees can be 'unhappy' and lose track of time while working hard, but when he knows how his work makes a better 'impact' of the world which also can be said that it will be Nonprofit Jobs. We all know that happiness does not come only from money, nice car, a huge house like a castle, right? This principle we should carried on, when we deal with a critical young generation.

As mention above this also brought up that doing business also means part of developing a better future as several development worker usually state. Sometime this youngster prefer to have a nonprofit careers and establishing a careers nonprofit to help others human being as part of their contribution to tackle global issues base on voluntary acts.
